Rev. Terrence O’Brien, Senior Pastor was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area; the fourth of five children. Shortly after graduating from Saint Mary’s College with a focus in athletic medicine and a minor in theatre, he moved to New York City to pursue a singing and acting career. Over the next twenty years he performed Off-Broadway and regionally in theatre, commercials, and industrials. During that time he began attending services at Marble Collegiate Church. Eventually his passion for ministry and involvement in the church grew stronger than his desire to perform. He expanded the Church School program, launched Special Events, attended to Pastoral Care needs, led Family Worship Services and the Sunday morning Prayer Circle and facilitated Small Groups. While at Marble, Pastor Terry was mentored by the esteemed Rev. Dr. Ed Mulder – RCA General Secretary Emeritus, and Arthur Caliandro, Senior Minister and successor to Norman Vincent Peale. He returned to school while at Marble, earning his Masters in Divinity at Union Theological Seminary. Rev. O’Brien graduated and was subsequently ordained at Marble Collegiate in 2008. Soon thereafter, he moved with his wife Jeanne and their daughter Caitlin to the Hudson Valley where he was called and installed as pastor of the Reformed Church of Saugerties. Reviving a dwindling congregation there, he brought worship into the community, spearheaded three major capital improvement campaigns, and brought the dynamic communication skills he honed in theatre into the pulpit. Rev. O’Brien and his family are thrilled to be at the Community Church of Glen Rock and are looking forward to a faith filled ministry where the Spirit is vibrant and alive in the life of the community.
